SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
In honor of the Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere I have a confession: over the past ten years of traveling around the world I had never stepped foot in Europe – a travel sin, I know! Luckily for me, the travel gods noticed and I won a trip that ended this travesty and brought me to Croatia. Backpacking down the coast, I ended up in Dubrovnik. Here I was able to partake in my very own Game of Thrones Walk of Atonement.
If you’re a ‘Game of Thrones’ fan, put Croatia on top of your travel bucket list!
Exploring Dubrovnik will transport you into the real-life version of King’s Landing. Every turn within old town will have you believing you’re walking through one of the Seven Kingdoms. And maybe you’ll even bump into a Lannister!
So how did I find the filming location for Cersei’s Walk of Atonement down the stairs of the Great Sept of Baelor?
I randomly stumbled upon it while I was wandering old town and staying a block away in an adorable room at Villa Sigurata. My mouth literally dropped to the ground when I turned the corner and realized where I was. Instantly I had one mission – my own Walk of Atonement! Warning: during most of the day, the historic stairs in front of St. Ignatius Church are pretty crowded. In order to have this iconic Game of Thrones filming location to myself, I woke up at sunrise to atone for my sins alone.
The return of Game of Thrones has inspired me to share more about my virgin trip to Europe! Coming up I’ll be sharing my adventures in Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik. Until then, soak up Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes and Krka Waterfalls. If you don’t – it’s a SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

Now, I’m dying to know who your photographer was 😉
Fun post! I think I’m going to save tonight’s episode for when I get back from the Keys given that my airport call time is 3am…
I am a huge Got fan and Croatia is already on my bucket list! I simply cannot believe that you’ve done this? That place is usually crowded, what time of the day was this?
Awesome that you found this! It is crowded during the day. I woke up right before sunrise to go and no one was there. Definitely check it out and hope this helps!
What a big shot! You lovely crazy guy! You remind me of when I was there in a very weird way hahaha!
I always try to have a great time when I’m traveling and couldn’t pass up recreating this moment!
Uncensored version please!
I had done a walk of shame in early morning in a remote Czech village by the lake, only to be watched by a early riser older man who came a bit too close for comfort.
