Winning $25,000 on The Price Is Right Survivor Special

May 24, 2016

Around the World with Justin
If you follow my travels you know that my love for adventure is rooted in my passion for the TV show Survivor. Basically I travel around the world creating my own Survivor-inspired adventures. After watching season 2, I decided to live in Australia. Recently I fulfilled my superfan dream of visiting Pulau Tiga, Borneo where it all began nearly 16 years ago. I even was a step ahead of the show by going to the Angkor Wat Temples before they filmed seasons 31 & 32 in Cambodia.

Growing up in Naperville, IL – a good ole Chicago suburb – I was raised on three things: Midwest values, Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza and of course, the TV show Survivor.  As a teenager I made my family play a full scale version of the game and years later I created small business called Reality Rush that runs adventure team building events. For the past 16 years my family has supported my Survivor obsession (still hoping I’ll pop up on the show) because our common love for Survivor is one of the strongest bonds we have. So it should come as no surprise that when I saw an article about the Price Is Right Survivor Primetime Special I immediately called my dad who recently retired.

“Dad!” I yelled over the phone. “You and mom have to come to LA for the Price Is Right Survivor! This is what life and retirement is all about!” And the rest is history. By simply saying YES to travel and YES to adventure, my parents came to LA for the Price is Right Survivor taping and my dad won $25,000 alongside Survivor legend Cirie Fields and the one and only Jeff Probst.

Saying YES to travel is priceless… or sometimes worth $25,000.

Thanks Beth! It’s still so surreal… did it really happen!? Sure the big $25,000 payday on the Price Is Right is epic, but what makes it even better is we are such huge Survivor superfans! Thanks for coming on down with us!

It’s so great that you and your family have something fun to bond over like that! And how your travel is inspired by the show. I recently tried to watch the Amazing Race because my friend told me I would like all the traveling they do. I turned on season one and agreed that I do like the places so far. But then I couldn’t watch pass a couple episodes because of all the bickering they do. I was thinking of how I would creative a bucket list of places for me to go, see and do based on that show but now I can’t.

And big congratulations to your dad! It’s so cool that your parents say YES to adventures so like that!

Thank you so much Jojo! My family has been Survivor fans since day one so it was such a cool experience and a bonus that my dad won big! Hopefully what you did watch of the Amazing Race gave you some travel inspiration and got you excited to take an adventure soon.
